I filled my car up with gas, then realized I had no more checks in my checkbook.

Maybe this is a little outdated, but I thought it was relevant to our money situations even today. Gas prices going up and everyone is looking to make ends meet. I remember back in 2001, I had just filled my car up with gas and realized I had no more checks in the checkbook. Yes, back then I had no credit card and the check card wasn’t around yet. I remember the moment I looked in my purse and found I had forgotten to put new checks in my purse. I must have gotten side tracked. Yikes! I was going to be late for work, if I didn’t get going soon. No check? How was I going to pay for my gas? I was in tears and scared. Not knowing what the attendant at the gas station would say. I finally got the nerve to walk in and tell him what had happened. Of course, he saw my tears and understood my situation. I think that man was an Angel from Heaven.  He let me leave my watch with him until I could get back after work to pay him. I was so relieved and I thanked him over and over again!  I’m glad I had the courage to tell him the truth. I wonder what other people have done in this situation?  I hear about some people driving off without paying for their gas. I wonder if this is intentional on their part, or if they are too embarrassed to be upfront with the clerk in the gas station?   My heart goes out to anyone struggling to make ends meet. It’s scary, I know that for sure!   I’d love to help you get out of living pay check to pay check. Please visit my website at www.kathyrossi.myhomefortune.com/lc2.php   God Bless you!  Kathy
